A new form of publication

April 1st, 2012 (12:29 am)

Okay, folks, I'm trying something new with the next Ethshar serial. Instead of posting chapters on the web where anyone can read them for free, I'll be distributing the story on mugs, one page per mug, a new page every day.

I said I hoped to start the next serial some time in April, so here's the first page of The Sorcerer's Widow:Large mug

To read the entire story, you'll need to collect the complete set of 233 mugs -- 250 if you include the illustrations I'm commissioning -- and when it's complete, the cover will be on a T-shirt.

Page 2 will be available tomorrow; hope you enjoy the story!

That seems like a good-sized mug. Most mugs are too small.

I notice that your greeting cards are listed under "Stationary".

Hey, Cafe Press spelled it that way! Nothing I can do about it.

And yeah, it's a large mug because I already had a regular-sized one.

Is it one of those temperature-sensitive mugs? Will hidden text to be revealed when the mug is filled with hot coffee?

Oooh, ooh! Sign me up! I'll put it next to my collection of Neil Gaiman's cocktail napkins and Robert Jordan's face on a piece of toast!

$3,237.50 is a little steep for one story...

Well, Cafe Press does take a cut, and you'll never again lack for a clean mug for your coffee.

[reading]

Given the format of the story, you really should have the pages printed on bowls.

Can't wait to see the entry in Guinness for this story! What a cool idea!
